RSLS’s mission is to provide excellence in the delivery of translation and interpretation services. We are committed to embracing diversity as an integral part of the profession and establishing a bridge between languages.
THE TRIALS OF SADDAM HUSSEIN AND
OTHER FORMER IRAQI LEADERS
RSLS was selected to provide transcription and translation of the historic trials of Saddam Hussein, "Chemical" Ali, and other former Iraqi leaders. Within days of receiving the contract, RSLS ramped up production to begin expediting
requests through a 7-step quality control process involving two dozen Arabic linguists working in shifts to keep the project going 24/7. The process included multiple editors and experts to ensure the accuracy of legal terminology.
MAJOR TRAIN DERAILMENT IN LOS ANGELES
When Union Pacific lost control of a freight train speeding toward downtown Los Angeles, it made a tough decision within 15 minutes to derail it in the City of Commerce and saved hundreds of lives. With freight cars and lumber thrown everywhere, Union Pacific faced the challenge of rebuilding and handling public relations in a predominantly Spanish-speaking community. Union Pacific trusted RSLS to provide language services immediately. For weeks, RSLS's certified interpreters were right there—some around the clock—supporting Union Pacific until it overcame this goliath.
THE NATION'S MOST IMPORTANT MONEY-LAUNDERING CASE EVER
In the case of USA vs Pavel Lazarenko, testimony was given in Russian, Ukrainian, Greek, Macedonian, French, and Dutch. Witnesses testified via videotape recorded at foreign depositions …. "Tens of thousands of pages of foreign documents were introduced into evidence.” The US Attorneys Office trusted RSLS to provide translation, interpretation, and transcription for this case that San Francisco Magazine called, “The Nation's Most Important Money-laundering Case Ever.”
Translation of a Flash Website into Chinese
Veritrade, Ltd., the electronic publishing company that specializes in International Trade Analysis, Research, and Market Strategies, chose RSLS to translate and localize its flash website into Chinese. RSLS provided not only the translation but also the engineering and testing to ensure everything worked perfectly in the final production.
Graphics and Desktop Publishing in Foreign Languages
Translation often involves more than just text. Words can appear in graphics and files can be created in programs that may or may not correctly display foreign characters. RSLS has desktop publishers, layout designers, and engineers that can ensure picture perfect appearance of product labels, advertisements, or brochures. For example, the California State Bar trusted RSLS to translate the booklet, "Seniors & the Law" into both Tagalog and Vietnamese, and the booklet, "When you Become 18" into Spanish.
Interpreting on the Ocean for Maritime Law
A major international maritime law firm discovered it needed an interpreter for a deposition, but there were several challenges. It was already 6:30pm, when most interpreting agencies were closed. The interpreter was needed at 8:30am the next morning. The language was Greek. And the deposition was going to take place on a ship in the middle of Long Beach harbor. This law firm trusted RSLS, just as they had many times before. RSLS contacted one of its experienced Greek court interpreters, and the attorney was able to rest assured that RSLS had taken care of everything.
